B&O Philadelphia - Baltimore TT Evolution

Baltimore & Ohio / Chessie System / CSX

 Philadelphia to Baltimore Main LIne

The October 25, 1959 Baltimore Division ETT No.6 has the schedules and station pages combined. This was common in the 1930s and 40s on many railroads including New York Central, DL&W and others. It lists information such as interlockings, train order stations and sidings. The other sub-divisions in this timetable list the train schedules here, but since the B&O passenger service east of Baltimore was eliminated in 1959, there are no schedules for the East End Sub.

The B&O moved from 8x11 inch timetables to pocket size ones in the 1960s. This B&O Baltimore Division October 31, 1965 TT No.94 example includes interlockings, block stations, junctions/crossings and sidings.

This Chessie System March 1, 1980 Maryland Division TT No.3 example includes a strip map, interlockings, yard limits and sidings. The name has been changed from East End Subdivision to Philadelphia Subdivision. The strip map makes it obvious how much of this subdivision was single track at this point.

This CSX Baltimore Division January 1, 2005 TT 4 example now includes more detailed strip maps, Signal Rules in Effect and Speed Limits. This format is also used by Norfolk Southern.
